Up or down? Scrolling on OS X Lion

Unlearning is hard. I noticed it myself when I upgraded (clean install, ahem) to Lion over the last weekend. I used the whole weekend my Mac Mini with Lion and no other computer. It took these 2-3 days to get used to the "natural" scrolling in Lion.

The strange thing happened on Monday: When I scrolled on my work computer (with Windows using scroll wheel), I really felt that the text moved in the 'wrong' direction - unnaturally.

Plastic Logic e-book reader

This is absolutely amazing. It seems that they provide the final technical breakthrough that is needed to make reading a digital experience. Though still another year away from production. Obviously, they want to steer up the hype, now that Amazon and Sony try to rapidly gain market share now that the e-book market is ready for primetime.

What do people think about "Windows 7"?

People on the streets of Sydney are asked whether they like "Windows 7". Interesting answers. This "version" runs on my notebook for a few months in production. And I would not want to switch back ;-)

Apple subnotebook to be announced in January

After months of rumors an Apple subnotebook is expected to be announced in January next year. This is according to a CNBC broadcast by Jim Goldman. I am curious about the specs and I could imagine that this might become my first Mac computer.

The Future of Reading

The Kindle e-book reader from Amazon is now available on amazon.com. They call the display "revolutionary" - though several other vendors (Sony, IRex, Jinke) are already selling e-book devices for quite some time and there were a few updates and newcomers recently.

It seems that finally the long-rumoured Kindle from Amazon is coming. Supposedly this is planned to make a big splash.
