Method for Counting Events

The invention relates to a method for counting events in an information technology system which performs one or more threads of executions, wherein an event counter is introduced comprising:

• a progress counter to be used across multiple threads of execution, counting the number of events emitted by one or more actions with a logical and dependency which occur in different threads of execution; and
• a local counter to be used within a single thread of execution counting the number of events emitted by one or more actions which occur within a single thread of execution.
