Up or down? Scrolling on OS X Lion

Unlearning is hard. I noticed it myself when I upgraded (clean install, ahem) to Lion over the last weekend. I used the whole weekend my Mac Mini with Lion and no other computer. It took these 2-3 days to get used to the "natural" scrolling in Lion.

The strange thing happened on Monday: When I scrolled on my work computer (with Windows using scroll wheel), I really felt that the text moved in the 'wrong' direction - unnaturally.

How to use Circles in Google+

As you start playing with Google+ and Circles, here are a few guidelines for different tastes.

+Lord of the Rings

The most profound concept in Google+ is Circles. And it is probably the most discussed one right now.

I'll be back!

It is an understatement if I would say I had neglected our Web site and my subdomain. There was nothing for over a year.

Of course, there are lots of good reason. Jessica kept me busy as a father. Then work kept me busy. In addition there is Facebook and Twitter now.

Nevertheless I spend a bit of time over the last few weeks on the site. Most of the things under the hood: moved from webhosting to vserver, switched provider, upgraded to Drupal 6, learned about drush, got a Mac based blog editor (MarsEdit).

Plastic Logic e-book reader

This is absolutely amazing. It seems that they provide the final technical breakthrough that is needed to make reading a digital experience. Though still another year away from production. Obviously, they want to steer up the hype, now that Amazon and Sony try to rapidly gain market share now that the e-book market is ready for primetime.

"Against Intellectual Monopoly"

Unlike fishs in the ocean, ideas do not get diminished by widespread use.
The book Against Intellectual Monopoly is available in print or for free download.

The Twitter Followholic

In case I get ever addicted (dont believe so), this is a good recipe to get clean again:

Could the crisis lead to catharsis?

Just saw this BBC news. Gordon Brown wants the banks to be the servants and not the masters of economy and society. Shouldn't that apply to politicians, government, companies and any institution as well? Eventually we either see the worldwide societies and their institutions to go through a catharsis or we are on the brink of a global catastrophe.

What do people think about "Windows 7"?

People on the streets of Sydney are asked whether they like "Windows 7". Interesting answers. This "version" runs on my notebook for a few months in production. And I would not want to switch back ;-)
